As per the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the institute will strictly follow the “UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace in Higher Educational Institutions 2009.”
In accordance with these regulations, the admitted student as well as the parents concerned must have to submit two individual affidavits in format.
- Legal Framework and Consequences: Ragging is explicitly prohibited and considered a criminal offense. The policy emphasizes that stringent measures will be taken to prevent and address any instances of ragging.
- Definition of Ragging: The definition includes actions that detract from human dignity, violate a person’s rights, or subject them to ridicule. This includes acts like intimidation, wrongful confinement, injury, or any form of coercion.
- Scope of Prohibition: Ragging is banned in all forms within the institution, including its departments, residential areas, sports facilities, cafeterias, and during any form of student transportation.
- Reporting and Punitive Measures: Students and parents are encouraged to report any incidents of ragging immediately to the college authorities. The policy ensures that strict punishment will be imposed on those found guilty after due process, which may include expulsion from the institution.
- Compliance: The institution displays a statutory warning as mandated by the UGC, indicating the seriousness with which ragging is treated and the consequences for offenders.
In summary, the policy reflects a zero-tolerance approach towards ragging, aligning with UGC regulations aimed at maintaining a safe and respectful educational environment. It emphasizes both prevention through awareness and stringent enforcement through punitive measures against perpetrators.
