Introduction:
In alignment with the guidelines provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and the Supreme Court of India, our college has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). The primary aim of the ICC is to foster an environment on campus that is devoid of any form of gender inequality, sexual harassment, and abuse.
Objectives of the ICC:
- To ensure the campus is free from all kinds of gender inequality.
- To provide a safe working environment for women at the institution.
- To uphold gender equality for women in the workplace.
- To ensure the protection, safety, and security of the women workforce.
- To prevent any form of sexual harassment and abuse.
- To enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment and abuse.
- To promote awareness about gender equality and sensitivity among all.
Girl students and female staff member can lodge complaints to any committee member via telephone, email, or the complaint box placed in front of the Principal’s Chamber.
Procedures and Guidelines for Action Planning:
- A meeting will be convened promptly upon receiving any complaint regarding sexual harassment or abuse.
- Complainants may approach any committee member via email, telephone, or a written complaint.
- Complainants will receive full support and cooperation from the committee.
- The committee members will initiate an inquiry as soon as complaint is received.
- A preliminary report of the incident will be prepared and submitted to the committee members within seven days of receiving the complaint.
- The entire enquiry process will be completed within 90 days of the incident.
Action Plan:
- Immediate counselling of a victim (whether a student or a staff member) to help them overcome trauma.
- Laws related to sexual harassment and abuse will be prominently displayed in key areas of the campus.
- Awareness campaigns and programs will be conducted to educate the campus community about gender equality, sensitivity, sexual harassment, and abuse.
